Music Mondays #6

ok so im not attaching any music you will notice. thats because i am frusterated. none of my past MM's will play! what is the deal? i can upload them and they work for about a week and then nothin. it says "getting info from fileden" (who ive been using as my file hosting) but it never ACTUALLY gets it cause it wont play. thoughts, my computer friendly folk? does anyone know of a file hosting site that wont do this to me? because if not im not doing music mondays anymore. it takes too long to set up these posts to have them not work after a week. so anyone with any great ideas please share. i heart doing music mondays.

New Moon

just a note to say...its 3am and i just got back from watching new moon. i will do a full review later including showing off the fan girl gear i made but for now all i have to say is EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!! EEEEEEEEEE!!!...Oh. My. GOD! SOOOOOOO GOOOD!

Crafting for GOOD!!!

as always i am looking for ways to make the world a better place through craft. i thought id share what one crafter is doing to give back.

Squibstitcher of Fresh from the Cauldron hand dyes the most spectacular yarns. A lot of her yarns are inspired buy books, tv, and movies and the characters that live in those worlds i have to tell you i am OBSESSED! i have no desire to buy any other yarn but hers since i got my grimy little meat hooks on two skeins of her yarn last summer. Not only are they sumptuously soft they are fantastic colors. i also love love LOVE that she gives her reasons for picking the colors she does. like sometimes you are lookiing around etsy and you find a yarn titled "luna lovegood inspired" and its black and grey, and you are like WTF? how did they get that colorway from that character? they TOTALLY dont go together. well squib gives her reasons for why those colors called out to her for a certain character. LOVE that! there was one yarn of hers that i saw and it wasnt in her listing but i asked her "whats that about? those colors dont say (insert character from a book here) to ma at all." but she told me why she chose those colors and i could really see where she got that and it all fell into place for me. "of couse those are the perfect colors! haha

ok now onto her do-goodery: she is hosting three auctions of her fantastic yarn for charity. the proceeds will benefit Knitters Without Borders. First up on the auction block is Jane of Twilight fame. GORGEOUS! Auction dates: November 17th, 10am EST- November 19th, 10am EST. heres what Squib has to say about this yarn "Jane was inspired by the Volturi guard character in the Twilight saga by Stephenie Meyer. This hank is 420 yds of FFtC Silver Sock." Silver sock means its sparkly people. sparkly and gorgeous. just like a vampire. hahaha
Second on the auction block is Gran from True Blood. Auction dates: November 16th, 10am EST- November 18th, 10am EST. i covet this yarn. covet it like you would not believe. "Gran was inspired by Sookie’s grandmother in the True Blood series by Charlaine Harris. This hank is 440 yds of merino/silk; FFtC Silk Sock." Silk sock base means soft soft soft and loving to your feet just like Gran would be if you feet were sookie. hahaha
Third and last up on the block is Poughkeepsie. lush and beautiful. Auction dates: November 18th, 10am EST- November 20th, 10am EST. "Poughkeepsie was inspired by the fall pallet in the setting as described by the author, MrsTheKing’s Twilight fanfic of the same name. This is one hank of MCN worsted weight" this one is a worsted weight yarn

wordless wednesday CHALLENGE!

hey everyone! its our first challenge for Wordless Wednesday! i have become recently obsessed with taking black and white pictures. well, less taking, and more changing really. i take them on my digital camera in color and switch them all to black and white to see how they look. it really really does change the look and feel of a picture. This challenge is to submit a photo in black and white for voting on by the participants of all the WW groups.

Rules:

• Photo must be submitted by January 15th
• Please take photos and upload them at the highest resolution you can for purposes of the prize.
  
• Photos can be submitted to the WW Livejournal Group, or on the WW Flicker Group
  
• Photos can be of any subject as long as its work safe (no naughty material people this is in the group rules)
• Photos must be taken by you (also in the group rules)
  
• You may enter as many photos as you like
• You MUST tag your entries "WW Black and White Challenge" so that i can find them when its time to gather. if you dont tag them you arent entered.
  
• Photos must be...um....black and white.

Voting:

• Photos will be gathered from LJ and Flicker by January 25th and the voting will begin. (this means i have permission to copy or download any photos you enter in the challenge for purposes of the poll and prize so please dont lock them.)
  
• I will link the poll post here but the poll will be held on livejournal.
• Anyone and everyone will be able to vote.
• Voting will end on January 30th and the winner will be announced on the 31st

Prize:

• The fabulous Prize for the winner will be an 8X10 print of their picture in their choice of a black or white frame with a black or white mat. all acid free and safe for photos of course. i will be matting and framing these not a professional shop but i will use materials that will keep your winning photo safe.
